After winning multiple Academy Awards for his historical epic, the celebrated director is venturing into Greek mythology with an adaptation of Homer's ancient poem. The story centers on a heroic king and his perilous journey home after a decade of war. The film is scheduled for release in IMAX format.
The Oscar-winning actor portrays the legendary Greek hero on his epic journey home.
A First in Cinema History
The production is the first feature film in history to be shot entirely on IMAX 70mm film cameras, with a budget of $250 million, making it the most expensive film of the director's career. To achieve this, the team utilized over two million feet of film during a grueling 91-day shoot that spanned the globe, including locations in Morocco, Greece, Italy, Iceland, and the United Kingdom.
The official trailer for the IMAX epic has arrived.
An Unprecedented Ensemble
The film boasts one of the most stacked ensembles in modern cinematic history. The Oscar-winning actor leads as the cunning King of Ithaca. This marks his third collaboration with the director. Another rising star plays his son, while an acclaimed actress portrays his wife.

What the Director Says
In a recent interview, the director explained his lifelong desire to make this film. "Greek mythology hadn't really been done on a big budget, throw-everything-at-the-screen kind of way. It's just one of the great adventure stories, and I really wanted to see it done justice."
He explained that Homer's foundational epic was essentially the blockbuster entertainment of its day, noting that the ancient poem shares the same fundamental appeal as modern cinematic universes. He pointed to the audience's desire to see gods walking among mortals.
